METRC integration

METRC integration for wholesale cannabis.

WeedShelf connects to METRC with a cultivator’s own user API key, reads the license’s active packages into a live wholesale menu, and turns each confirmed order into METRC child packages on adult-use tags and a transfer template. The cultivator dispatches the manifest in METRC Connect, as the state requires.

METRC stays the record of physical inventory. WeedShelf adds what METRC does not hold: wholesale prices, the buyers, what they viewed and the orders.

Connecting your license.

In Settings, add your METRC user API key and enter your facility license number. WeedShelf supplies its own vendor key, encrypts yours at rest and never sends it back to the browser. The sync reads the license you entered, so your menu shows that license’s METRC record.

Live in Rhode Island; Massachusetts and other METRC states by request. The connection is the same in each: your key, your license, your packages.

What the sync reads, and what it leaves alone.

Active packages

Each active package becomes a menu line, matched by its package label, with its item, category, quantity and lab-test state.

Your fields stay

A re-sync updates only what METRC owns. Prices, photos, notes, tags and featured items you add are kept.

The empty-sync guard

If METRC answers with zero packages, the menu stays as it was. A failed or partial read is reported as one, never as zero inventory.

Live for the buyer

Buyer menus update while they are open, so a buyer sees what is left rather than what was there yesterday.

Categories that map

METRC item categories map to menu categories by one published rule; see the category taxonomy.

No overselling

An order is checked against the package’s METRC quantity from the last sync, less what other open orders already hold.

From an order to a manifest.

  1. 01

    The order arrives

From a private link or the buyer marketplace, checked against current price and the last METRC sync’s stock, less open orders, as it goes in.

  2. 02

    You confirm

WeedShelf creates the child packages the order needs, on adult-use tags, from the source packages on your menu.

  3. 03

    The transfer template

WeedShelf creates the METRC transfer template for the buyer’s license, ready for you to review.

  4. 04

    You dispatch

You review and dispatch the manifest in METRC Connect. WeedShelf matches the outgoing transfer back to the order or you attach it; then the buyer is emailed the invoice with the manifest. A mismatch holds it for your review.

Rhode Island issues both adult-use and medical package tags, and lists medical first. A wrong tag prints on the physical label, so an adult-use order only ever draws adult-use tags, and the run stops rather than spend a medical tag by mistake.

Packages as they really are.

One product often lives in several METRC packages, and a manifest ships one box per package label. Before you ship, you can combine the order’s split packages of the same item into one new package, so the buyer who ordered one product receives one box. Mixed lab states, held packages and packages another open order draws from are refused.

If you already combined packages by hand in METRC Connect, WeedShelf follows the new package through METRC’s own lineage and moves the order onto it. That step writes nothing to METRC.

From a cultivator who uses it.

“An order that may have taken 30 minutes to set up in Metrc is now completed in the click of a button…”

What WeedShelf does not do in METRC.

WeedShelf does not dispatch manifests for you: that step stays a person’s, in METRC Connect. It writes to METRC only for a step you start, such as confirming an order, combining packages, correcting a package count or adding a driver; no scheduled job writes to METRC. It keeps no books, syncs no accounting system and plans no delivery routes.

How WeedShelf compares.

Each comparison takes the other company’s column from its own public website, dated, and quotes no prices for anyone.

  • Distru

Distru describes itself as a cannabis ERP with a B2B wholesale menu. WeedShelf is a live METRC-synced wholesale menu per buyer that records who is looking. What each does, and does not.

  • LeafLink

LeafLink describes itself as the cannabis wholesale marketplace, with brand pricing by quote. WeedShelf gives each dispensary a private METRC-synced link and records who is looking.

  • Apex Trading

Apex Trading describes a wholesale platform with storefronts, ordering and a CRM. WeedShelf replaces the storefront with a private METRC-synced link and the CRM with what buyers do.

Questions, answered.

Which METRC key does WeedShelf need?
The METRC user API key for your license, which you add in Settings. WeedShelf supplies its own vendor key, and your key is encrypted at rest.
Does WeedShelf write to METRC?
Only for steps you start, such as confirming an order, which creates its child packages and transfer template, combining split packages, correcting a package count or adding a driver. Dispatching the manifest stays with you in METRC Connect.
What happens if METRC returns no packages?
WeedShelf keeps your menu as it was. A sync that reads zero packages never empties the menu, and a failed read is reported as a failed read, not as zero inventory.
Do my prices and photos survive a re-sync?
Yes. A sync updates only the fields METRC owns, such as quantity and lab-test state. Prices, photos, notes and tags you add stay.
Can a buyer order more than I have?
Not more than your last METRC sync shows. Each order is checked against that quantity, less open orders, as it goes in.
Does adult-use or medical tagging matter?
Yes. Rhode Island issues both kinds of package tag. WeedShelf draws adult-use tags for adult-use orders and stops rather than spend a medical tag by mistake.
Which states does the integration support?
Live in Rhode Island; Massachusetts and other METRC states by request.
