WeedShelf vs GrowFlow: a wholesale menu that reports back, beside seed-to-sale software

GrowFlow describes itself as seed-to-sale software for cannabis operators: cultivation, inventory, wholesale orders and transfers, a dispensary point of sale and reporting to the state’s traceability system, with a marketplace where retailers order from wholesalers. WeedShelf is narrower on purpose: a METRC-synced wholesale menu with one private link per dispensary that records what each buyer does with it, and turns the order into METRC packages and an invoice. This page sets the two side by side in each one’s own terms.

What GrowFlow is, in its own description

On its public site (read October 2026), GrowFlow describes itself as “comprehensive cannabis business software” for cultivators, processors, distributors and retailers: cultivation tracking, wholesale inventory, orders, pre-orders and transfers, a dispensary point of sale, and integrations with state reporting systems including Metrc, BioTrack and CCRS. Its Metrc integration page calls GrowFlow a “certified Metrc integration partner” whose wholesale customers report their activity to Metrc through GrowFlow, and says some activities must still be completed in Metrc’s own software. Its wholesale page says that generating a transfer “automatically creates an invoice and integrates with QuickBooks”, and that manifests are generated for each order.

Its marketplace page describes the GrowFlow Marketplace, which “links wholesalers’ live inventory to a digital storefront where retailers can view and order products”, with order requests that appear automatically for the wholesaler. Its pricing page publishes monthly plans priced per license, separately for wholesale and retail operators, with unlimited users on each license, and says marketplace services may be billed separately. Its wholesale page describes keeping track of top-selling products and who is buying them, and reaching out to customers who have not purchased recently. Nothing on its public site, as read, describes recording which buyer opened a menu or what they looked at.

What WeedShelf is, and is not

WeedShelf is wholesale menu software for licensed cultivators. It reads a cultivator’s inventory from METRC on a scheduled sync and on demand, turns it into a wholesale menu with one private link per dispensary, and records what each buyer does with that link: the open, the products viewed, what went into the cart and in what quantity, and the order. From an order it creates the METRC child packages on adult-use tags, the transfer template, and the emailed invoice; the cultivator dispatches in METRC Connect, as the state requires.

WeedShelf is not an ERP and does not try to be one. It keeps no books, syncs no accounting system, plans no delivery routes, runs no team chat and keeps no public wholesale catalog: no wholesale menu is open to the public. A buyer opens a menu link without an account: the link is the identity. Rhode Island dispensary buyers can also request a WeedShelf buyer account, which WeedShelf reviews and ties to one store; it opens the live menus of every cultivator on WeedShelf’s members-only buyer marketplace, which a cultivator can leave. Rhode Island is the live market. Because WeedShelf works through METRC, a cultivator in Massachusetts or any other state that uses METRC can request access.

How it chargesMonthly plans per license, published on its pricing page; marketplace services may be billed separatelySet per account. The default fee is a share of the month’s confirmed sales made through WeedShelf, capped at a monthly fee, so a month with no sales costs nothing; there is no public price list.

Choose GrowFlow when

  • You want cultivation, inventory, wholesale and a dispensary point of sale in one system.
  • You want QuickBooks to receive your wholesale orders and invoices.
  • You operate in a state its site lists.

Choose WeedShelf when

  • You already keep your operations in METRC and want a menu per buyer that shows who is looking.
  • You want a buyer to open a link, not create an account.
  • You sell in Rhode Island.

Using both

Nothing prevents running WeedShelf beside seed-to-sale software. METRC is the source of truth for both, so inventory is never entered twice: the operations system keeps the plants and the books, and WeedShelf keeps the record of who is looking.

Questions

Is WeedShelf a GrowFlow alternative?
For the buyer-facing menu and the order-to-METRC step, yes. For cultivation tracking, accounting sync and a dispensary point of sale, no. WeedShelf is a wholesale menu on METRC, not seed-to-sale software.
Does WeedShelf track plants or run a point of sale?
No. Inventory is read from METRC, and the cultivator keeps whatever system tracks the grow.
What does GrowFlow cost?
Its pricing page, read on October 31, 2026, publishes monthly plans per license. No figure is repeated here, because prices change and a stale one misleads.
Can I use WeedShelf and GrowFlow together?
Nothing prevents it. METRC is the shared source of truth, so nothing is entered twice.
Does a dispensary need an account to use a WeedShelf menu?
No. Each dispensary receives its own private link, and that link is the identity.
Where does WeedShelf operate?
Rhode Island today. Massachusetts and the other states that use METRC by request, since WeedShelf works through METRC.

How this page was written

Every statement about GrowFlow is taken from its own public website, www.growflow.com, as read on October 31, 2026; where that site does not describe a capability, the table says so rather than claiming its absence. Statements about WeedShelf are from its own product. No price is quoted for either, because prices change. The methodology page covers what WeedShelf publishes and what it does not.
